About Pediatric Dentistry of Round Rock
What Do We Do Differently
Dr. Bookmyer and her team are here to positively change the younger generation’s view of going to the dentist, one child at a time. Pediatric Dentistry of Round Rock was founded in 2002 by Dr. Bookmyer and her husband, an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. After receiving a dental education and experiencing an enriching dental background, Dr. Bookmyer knew she wanted to own a practice for herself. Her passion for dentistry and children inspired her and her husband to buy land and build what is now Pediatric Dentistry of Round Rock. She has created an office and environment that reflects her ideas and commitment to care. Dr. Bookmyer leads a team of expert dental professionals who all share a passion for dentistry and recommend treatments based on children’s overall well-being.
Meet Our Team
Dr. Kelsey L. Bookmyer
Hi! I am Dr. Kelsey Bookmyer and I wanted to let you know about myself. I am originally from New Mexico (Grants, NM). I attended college at New Mexico State University where I received a Bachelor of Science. New Mexico does not have a dental school so that is what prompted my move to Texas! I attended dental school at Baylor College of Dentistry (now part of Texas A & M) and graduated cum laude in 1995. I then began a two-year residency in pediatric dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, so I guess I’m both an Aggie and a Longhorn. It was there that I met and fell in love with my husband (he was in dental school there as well, and currently practices next door). He did an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the University of Florida. While living in Gainesville, Florida, I was fortunate enough to both work in private practice as well as teaching part time as a professor at the University of Florida Dental School in the pediatric dentistry department. In 2002 we moved to Round Rock and I began my practice. I am board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and regularly attend continuing education courses. I am an active member of the Capitol Area Pediatric Dentistry Society, the Southwestern Pediatric Dental Society, Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. I have been recognized as one of the top dentists in Texas Monthly, which is an award chosen by other Texas dentists, as well as one of America’s top dentists by the Consumer Research Council of America. My husband and I have one adorable son named Carson.
Dr. Sage Thames
Hi! My name is Sage Thames – I was born and raised around Lubbock, Texas. I have the great pleasure of being both a University of Texas Longhorn and a Texas Tech Red Raider! During college I was a member of the Track and Field team as a pole vaulter where I was part of a Big XII championship as well as a two-time NCAA Division I All-American. After college, I attended dental school at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and received my DDS degree in 2010. I then practiced as a general dentist in Lubbock until 2012 when I met my wife and relocated to Austin. As a general dentist, I was involved with local and state organizations including the Capital Area Dental Society as well as the Texas Academy of General Dentistry and in 2016 was nominated by my peers as “New Dentist of the Year” for Texas.
After several years of practicing general dentistry, I found my passion was working with and educating children as well as patients with special needs. In efforts to provide the most comprehensive and safe treatments available, I made the decision to pursue specialty training in pediatric dentistry. I completed a 24-month residency program in pediatric dentistry at East Carolina School of Dental Medicine. My wife and I have a one-year-old son and are excited to be back around friends and family! In my free time, I enjoy being with family, anything outdoors and spending time in west Texas on the family ranch.
Hi, my name is Katie. I’m the smiling face you see when you first walk in. My first job as a dental assistant was with Dr. Kelsey in 2002, the first day that Dr. Kelsey started her practice in Round Rock! I left dentistry for a couple of years when I became pregnant with my youngest son; I have 4 older children as well. When my son was older, I went back into the dental field, but on the administrative side. I have since come back to work with Dr. Kelsey in 2018, and have brought with me all the experience I’ve gained elsewhere. I love being here again and being part of making your children’s dental visits happy and welcoming.
I am originally from the Thorndale area and now reside in Taylor. My husband’s name is Jacob and I have two children, Lexi and Maverick. We have 15 chickens and three dogs named Napoli, Mookie, and Fenway. I’ve been working in dentistry since 2000. I received my Dental Hygiene degree at Coastal Bend College in Beeville, TX. I am a huge Autism advocate and my goal is to help children with special needs overcome their challenges. In my spare time, I enjoy watching my son play Baseball, watching my daughter compete in Special Olympics, gardening, decorating, and spending time with my husband and family.
I’m a Registered Dental Hygienist. I was raised in a big family, one of nine kids, which is why I feel so comfortable in an environment with a lot of kids. I’m married to my best friend, Billy and have two sons, Zack and BJ. I’ve loved every stage my boys went through growing up, from their toddler stage to their teenage years, and enjoy any age of kids that I get to work with. I enjoy doing anything outdoors with my family.
I am a certified Dental Assistant. I was born in West Virginia and raised in Indiana and Illinois. My husband and I moved to Austin from Washington DC in October 2004. My dental career began in 1990, and I have been in pediatric dentistry since 1993. In my spare time, I enjoy photography, traveling, listening to music, shopping and spending time with family and friends. I love children and helping the fearful ones overcome their dental fears. I love pediatric dentistry and leave here happy every day.
I’m a Registered Dental Assistant. I was born in Mexico, but have resided in Texas for most of my life. I have been a dental assistant for 13 years and with Dr. Kelsey since 2014. I am married and have four kids. In my free time, I enjoy coaching soccer and watching my kids become future World Cup players. I love working with kids and hearing their “point of views”.
Hi, my name is Jennifer. I grew up in Round Rock but moved away at 18. I entered the dental field in 1993 while living in Amarillo, TX. I attended college at McMurry University in Abilene, TX and after moved back to the Round Rock Area in 2012. I have 3 kids ages 25, 23, & 10. When not at work I stay busy with my 10 year old playing volleyball, going to the pool, seeing movies, shopping and playing at the park. We love to laugh and sing, although our singing isn’t always the best.
